What do you guys think of George RR Martin's intense hatred of fanfiction?
Obviously no sane adult actually cares about fanfiction itself, but I mean, philosophically?
While I definitely "get" that 99% of fanfiction should not exist on aesthetic principles alone, and that 98% probably consists of insulting retconning of (what the author considers) deeply meaningful and important relationships and events... I think he probably takes himself way too fucking seriously. Like he's one of those guys who got to fifty or whatever with little acclaim, then these books take off and he's RIDING THAT GRIFFON, man, you just can't STOP him. The effect of celebrity on a lifetime of collecting model figurines.
The man is exceptionally talented and is largely responsible for the modern improvement (or at least, grittifying) of the fantasy genre, I guess I just wish he wasn't such a humorless dick. |

Here's a thing I'm excited about because I've been working on it for a long long time and now it's becoming real. It's my new show!
This is just a verrrry quickly done-up compilation of last week's photo shoot but it's very cool to see the cast come to life. It's also very small because photobucket's a dick.

So HBO greenlit the Game of Thrones series. Here are the cast photos.
This is exciting! I can't imagine how next level it must be to have your creative babies brought to life like that. I can only flounder in expectation, like a gaping fish.
Too bad George is, like, the worst human being on the planet. It's probably all lost on him, between pizza slices and football season. |

wow i've had a huge insane month and have left my lj bereft of posts. that's because i'm just now able to breathe. I was so constantly busy I became a hermit until last Friday - the kind who is either studying, writing, or, sometimes, blissfully, relaxing with his door closed. Maia is the only other human contact I had.
DON'T TELL MY GIRLFRIEND THIS but I was worried the last couple months that I'd become one of those guys who only hangs out with his girlfriend and they just sit around the house all the time being boring, codependent losers. and like, watching top chef or whatever. I was like "oh man... it's happened!"*
turns out i was just THAT BUSY and stressed and now I've begun to seamlessly reenter the human realm. i am now ready for a happy holiday season!
i wish you all the same!
